About Boardoo

Who we are, and where we are going.

Boardoo was founded on March 13, 2006 with the single goal of providing an superior forum hosting experience constrasting what other free forum hosts were providing at the time. After evaluating the various forum software options on the market, we decided to focus on phpBB, given the size and commitment of the development community surrounding it. Unlike other free forum hosts we chose to spend the additional time and money to develop our own phpBB virtual hosting solution instead of relying on third-party solutions that we have no control over. Thus we began development of our new phpBB 2 hosting platform.

In the fall of 2006 we launched a private beta of our new forum hosting product code-named "Forums-Free" which ran until the spring of 2007. At that time, with a release of phpBB 3 less than a year away, we decided to halt development on the phpBB version 2 platform and focus our efforts entirely on phpBB 3 since beta code had been recently released. Throughout the summer and early fall of 2007 we quietly developed our own phpBB 3 virtualization system allowing us to host thousands of forums while consuming little resources. Finally in November of 2007 we once again launched a private beta of our phpBB 3 hosting product based on the 5th and later 7th release candidates of phpBB. Within weeks of the official release of phpBB 3 we launched our final, and completed phpBB free forum hosting product featuring enterprise-class hardware and software support housed in our very own datacenter.

May and June of 2008 has brought many significant changes and enhancements to Boardoo like a new customer portal; the Customer Support Center, and an expansion of our product linesa adding forum-related enhancements like Emoticons, Avatars, free fonts, recipes, jokes, and even chat! We won't be stopping there; two additional product lines are still currently under development with anticipated summer release dates.

Throughout our two year history our focus and committment has been on our customers. We feel that just because we do not charge for our produts and services does not mean we do not value our customers any less. We look forward to the second half of 2008 and our plans of rolling out several new product and services, some of which are well on their way to completion.
